European young lawyers gather in Lisbon

The European Young Bar Association (EYBA) has announced it will be holding its Spring Conference and European Committee General Meeting, taking place between 12-13 March 2010, at the Associação Comercial de Lisboa (Chamber of Commerce), Rua das Portas de Santo Antão 89, Lisbon.

The Friday conference programme will be dedicated mainly to the latest developments in EU law, with particular focus on the Lisbon Treaty.

Participants will also have the unprecedented opportunity to learn more about the host country, Portugal, as a great place for business, especially thanks to the extremely favourable opportunities through the fiscal regime of the island of Madeira.

In order to encourage open discussions amongst the participants, the conference will also feature a debate about access to the legal profession and give an insight into being a young lawyer in Portugal.

The main objectives of the conference will be to provide a general update about the latest developments in EU law; Focus on the approval of the Lisbon Treaty and illustrate its main features; Provide information about business opportunities in Portugal; Share some true stories about what it is like to be a young lawyer in Portugal; Introductions to a wide range of prominent expert speakers; Offer valuable networking opportunities with colleagues from other jurisdictions.
