Girl dies in Azores flash-flood
6/3/2010
A ten-year-old girl died when the school bus she was travelling in on Monday was swept into a ravine by a flash flood on the Azores islands.
Two children, including the missing girl’s twin sister, survived the accident on São Miguel island. The three children were the only passengers. The body of the driver was found by searchers near the buried bus hours after the accident near the village of Algarvia. School had been cancelled that day, but it was unable to call the driver in time to inform him not to collect the children.
