Take cover before you hit the slopes
13/3/2010
Post Office Travel says medical bills accounted for 75 percent of ski holiday claims last season, so skiers who travel uninsured or with limited cover take a big risk with their finances.
The Post Office says a dislocated hip costs around €12,000, a fractured leg in Europe up to €10,000, and France, Austria and Switzerland are the top countries for claims. Travellers who expect the European Health Insurance Card to cover costs could have a nasty shock, as it won’t cover the cost of repatriation, private treatment or personal baggage/ski equipment.
