Whether you are looking for a property to live in, a holiday home or an investment opportunity, Engel & Völkers Portimão has an extensive top-quality portfolio which covers Portimão, including Alvor and Mexilhoeira Grande, Monchique and the parishes of Silves, Ferragudo and Estômbar e Parchal. Wilfrid Hoos explained that “these are the exact areas we focus on, as specialists in these areas, but also in cooperation with our neighbouring licence partners when it comes to cover the rest of the Algarve. This is what makes us so unique.”

Wilfrid went on to tell me that “when my wife Milka and I came to Portimão in 2017, Engel & Völkers was not well known here” and they have worked hard to get to where they are now as they have seen their popularity surge following opening their office in 2018.

Understanding our Clients Dreams

Wilfrid explained that “One of the aspects in which we differ to other agencies is that we do not sell houses, we sell homes and help our clients to realise their projects and to fulfil their dreams. We believe that the real estate business is a people business so we make sure we understand the underlying needs and desires of our clients.”

Additionally, Wilfrid affirmed that “our passionate team works in collaboration rather than competition which differs from other agencies, team work is very important to us and that we pride ourselves on our diverse and competent team as we have consultants from France, Germany, England and Portugal, which also enables us to cater to many languages.”

Current Market and Trends

Wilfrid shared that “After the worst of the pandemic, we are seeing an increase in demand that is not meeting supply. It is not that there is not enough supply it is just that client’s needs have changed. For example, clients do not want small apartments without a balcony anymore, they want more space and the same goes for houses, clients are going for larger plots.”

Additionally, “The international interest in the Algarve is very high and we are selling to a lot of nationalities, also outside of Europe, to people from China, Brazil and surprisingly, the United States over the last year.”

The Original flair of Portugal

“Portimão is a good option if you are considering moving to the Algarve because it is so diverse and we have properties to cover all desires, from beach life to mountain pleasures. Portimão is the second largest city with a strong infrastructure, and has a healthy mix of local residents who work and live here as well as tourist areas.”

“Portimão has movement all year round and because it is a historic city there are a lot of houses with the old charm and original flair of Portugal. Similarly, it also makes a great place to invest regarding rentals.”

Engel & Völkers Portimão has a promising future, with plans of expansion and aims to be the number one premium real estate agency in Portimão.
