The successful event, this year in its fifth year, will take place between 26 April and 3 May and will bring together ten executive chefs heading up restaurants in some of the Algarve’s finest five-star hotels.
It is a chance for serious foodies to sample fare created by the culinary geniuses using fresh, local produce.
For the duration of the event the restaurants at the participating hotels will put on special menus that offer a unique fusion of flavours complemented by regional wines.
To celebrate the best of what the Algarve has to offer, this year the chefs have been set the challenge of creating their menus based on five ingredients that are typical of the region: hand-harvested sea salt (flor de sal), dried figs, carobs, broad beans and oranges.
A series of workshops hosted by the chefs will precede the main event and will be held in Loulé market on the first three Saturdays in April (4, 11, 18), from 3pm.
To commemorate the event’s fifth anniversary a recipe book will also be launched featuring a compilation of the dishes created over the past five years.
Participating chefs in this year’s event, Algarve Chefs Week 5.0., are Chef Andrew McGuie (Louro Restaurant, Conrad Algarve), Chef Bruno Rocha (EMO Restaurant, Hotel Tivoli Victoria), Chef Jan Stechemesser (À Terra Restaurant, Praia Verde Boutique Hotel), Chef José Leitão (Moonlight Restaurant, Nau Salgados Palace), Chef Luis Mourão (Alquimia Restaurant, Hotel Epic Sana Algarve), Chef Miguel Lourenço (The Olive Tree, Hotel Vale d’Oliveiras), Chef Miguel Teixeira (Koi Restaurant, Vidamar Resort Algarve), Chef Osvalde Silva (O Grill Restaurant, Pine Cliffs Residence, a Luxury Collection Resort), Chef Ricardo Ferreira (Pepper’s Restaurant, Hotel Tivoli Marina Vilamoura) and Chef Vitor Monteiro (Restaurant L14, Nau Salgados Dunas Suites).
All Algarve Chefs Week menus will be available on the websites of the participating hotels. Menus cost €30 per person, excluding drinks, and are dinner only. €1 from each meal will be given to the CASA Association for the homeless.
