Algarve councils to spend over €500,000 on Christmas lights

More than half a million euros (plus VAT) is to be spent by Algarve councils on their festive Christmas lights this year.

Newspaper Correio da Manhã reports that Albufeira, Faro and Portimão are the councils that will spend the most on their lights, while Vila Real de Santo António council, which is currently experiencing financial difficulties, has decided to be frugal and slash its spending on its Christmas illumination. In most of the municipalities the lights will be switched on at the start of next month.
