The average age for women to have children has risen in Portugal from 26 in 2000 to 30 in 2016.

And in 2015 the number of women who gave birth at the age of 50 or over climbed to 11. 

 

Latest research published today by newspaper Diário de Notícias shows that people in Portugal are becoming parents for the first time at a later stage, and many couples are turning to fertility treatments.
