Born just over a month ago, on 16 June, Sam is the youngest member of Zoomarine’s dolphin family and made his first public appearance last Friday (18 July) to a very delighted audience.
Since 1991 Zoomarine has been conducting a successful reproduction programme under the watchful eye of highly skilled trainers and biologists.
All were present at the birth, which took place on the morning of Monday, 16 June.
Sam was born to female dolphin Luna, who was born in Belgium, and Dino, a male dolphin from Sweden. Both of them are from parks with which Zoomarine cooperates on institutional and scientific levels.
The baby’s first public appearance was such a special occasion that it was covered by national news channels RTP, SIC and TVI.
