The initiative, organised by Zoomarine and supported by Silves municipal Câmara, will be held on the beaches between 9.30am and midday.
Inscription to join the beach clean is open until 10 May, with the first 150 participants receiving a free commemorative t-shirt.
The first clean beach operation took place in 2017 and is part of the “Together We Protect” environmental responsibility initiative, aiming at removing human debris (such as plastics, cans, remnants of nets, parts of vessels, appliances and other waste) along the coast and seabed, as well as to sensitise and involve the community to help to form behaviours that contribute to the reduction of consumption and the disposal of daily rubbish.

This is wonderful news but we need many more such events, and also litter cleanups inland. There is so much rubbish thrown along roadside verges and fly-tipping in woodlands. I am willing to take part in cleaning up the countryside and already pick up litter on walks where I live in Quinta do Conde.
