The Institute is appealing to donors to give blood as stocks are running low, but played down the dip in reserves, saying it is “normal for this time of year.”
The Head of the Institute, Helder Trindade said a series of donor drives have been organised for September and added existing stocks of the rarest types of blood are enough to cover five days, which is normal for his time of year, when people are on holiday.
I'm A- and happy to donate. When & where can I do so? Is there a webite I can visit. I'm in the Loulé area

I am blood group A- and gave blood in Albufeira for 10 years. After 6 or 7 years, the attitude changed and the waiting time at donation points became lengthy, and difficult for busy people to handle. I was finally told not to come back any more because of my age. No-one bothered to contact me and not a word of thanks from anyone. This is not the way to encourage fresh donors.
