Bonnie Tyler named patron of Guia animal charity

Legendary singer Bonnie Tyler has been named as the patron of the Guia-based AAG animal charity association (Algarve).

AAG was established two years ago by its founder Victoria Tayler to help injured, hungry and distressed street animals through the likes of feeding programmes and veterinary care.

At the same time as launching the charity Mrs. Tayler, who shares her home with 25 dogs and 150 cats that she took in off the streets, also opened a small charity shop in Guia (Albufeira) to buoy the cause.

Speaking of AAG’s new patron, she told The Portugal News: "I am delighted that Bonnie Tyler has agreed to become patron of our association, she pops into the charity shop in Guia when she is in the area."

Bonnie Tyler has owned property in the Algarve since the early 70’s and spends a great deal of time here, when her schedule allows. Even after 36 years of considerable success she is still incredibly busy. She performs live with her band regularly all over the world and has just completed a new album in Nashville, her 17th, which will be taking her music in a new direction.

I have a dog named guia who i named after visiting Guia in the Algarve. I went back there hoping to rescue a homeless dog i had fallen in love with. Glad to see a charity set up to help all the strays.
