According to AP, citing the lawyer of the former CIA agent, de Sousa was arrested on Monday and taken to prison, where she is awaiting extradition.

Lusa contacted the Prosecutor General’s Office, which explained that the arrest in Portugal of the former CIA agent, under a European arrest warrant, was the result of a decision by the Lisbon Court of Appeal.

The former agent lost a number of appeals against her extradition since she was initially detected at Lisbon airport in October 2015.

Sabrina de Sousa, 60, born in Goa, India, with Portuguese and US nationality, was sentenced in absentia to five years in prison for her role in the abduction of Abu Omar, in 2003, in Milan.
