Closure of Lisbon's secondary runway could allow more investment

National airport management company ANA has said today that closing Lisbon airport’s secondary runway would allow for investment that could free up space for flag-carrier TAP’s new aircraft.

ANA chairman, Thierry Ligonnière, told parliament that the “definitive closure” was a state decision, but a report from Eurocontrol said the airport would be at the same or better safety level with the runway closed. Ligonnière said the closure would allow for more parking places and a further extension to Terminal 1.
