Lisbon: Clear skies and bright weather will do little to attenuate the close-to-freezing temperatures forecast until the weekend. However, there will be some improvement in temperatures, with the mercury rising to highs of around 14 degrees Celsius and dropping to lows of six.
South: After some unexpected snowfall in the eastern Algarve on Thursday the rest of the weekend is also looking chilly but bright for southern Portugal. Overnight lows will climb gradually by a few degrees from Friday onwards, with maximum temperatures peaking at around 16 degrees Celsius.
North: Cloud cover will keep northern Portugal, which is usually the coldest part of Portugal, on a par with the rest of the country in terms of chilliness. Some sun will poke through on Saturday but the north will otherwise be overcast, maximum temperatures will reach 14 degrees Celsius, and lows will drop to 2.
