Portugal’s consumer confidence indicator fell between June and August while the economic climate stabilised in August, the country’s National Statistics Institute said.

The lower consumer confidence rate in August was down to a number of factors including consumers’ views on unemploy-ment and the country’s economic situation, according to the report.
Meanwhile, the confidence indicator for the manufacturing industry rose in July and August after having fallen during the first six months of the year.

The confidence indicator in services rose between May and August, reaching the highest level seen since August 2001, the statistics body said.
