The judges sentenced seven defendants to between two months and five years in prison, suspended in their enforcement for an equal period, for crimes including kidnapping, assault, falsification of documents and slander.

One of the defendants received a sentence of one year and a half effective as he has already been convicted in the past.

The court failed to prove the crimes of racism and torture and other cruel, degrading and inhumane treatment, which is why it acquitted all 17 defendants of these crimes.

The charge sheet had alleged that PSP officers beat the six victims and treated them in a humiliating and degrading manner, as well as inciting discrimination, hatred and violence because of their race. However, the prosecutor on Tuesday admitted to "many legal doubts" that this crime had been practised.
