The route, which the company flies three times a week, goes from the city of Hangzhou, on China’s east coast, to Lisbon, with a call at Beijing.
Last year, the number of Chinese who visited Portugal increased 40 percent to just over a quarter of a million, the Portuguese authorities said, attributing the jump to the direct air link.
Portugal received around 200,000 Chinese tourists in 2016, and Portugal’s ambassador to China, Jorge Torres-Pereira, said that the country could aim to reach 1 million Chinese tourists a year.
