The government’s proposal , which has been sent to aeronautic industry entities, will force the owners of drones weighing more than 250 grams, even if they are home-made, to register them with the national civil aviation authority (ANAC).

The unique ID number must be attached to the drone.

Owner will have 10 days to register the drones after they buy or finish building them.

The three-year, renewable registration will mean paying a fee to the ANAC, which will be responsible for setting the amounts.

Owners will also have to have civil liability insurance to cover them against any damage the drones cause to third parties.

This year, civil aviation has recorded 16 incidents with drones that were flying too close to aircraft corridors near airports.
