Mário Antunes, vice-chairman of farming association Agrotejo, told Lusa that the region between Abrantes and Almeirim (district of Santarém), has an average annual rainfall of 800 milimetre, but this year it has only received 200 millimetres, a situation that would be bad enough, but it comes after the fact that 2017 and 2016 were also below average with 500 and 600 millimetres respectively.
