The route was inaugurated last Friday with cake and drinks being offered to passengers on the first flight out of Porto and there was a welcome in Madeira with flowers and wine.
EasyJet now flies from Porto to eleven destinations including Stuttgart, Luton and Gatwick, Nantes and Toulouse, and links the northern city to Madeira with four flights a week.
Porto and Funchal were already connected with direct flights courtesy of TAP and Transavia, with this new route by easyJet being described by national airport management company ANA as “relevantly important to the development of the regions’ tourism, who hope this will be another successful route.”
