From nutritious snacks to naughty slurps for grown-ups only; so much has been packed into the food and drinks category that it is like a little lunchbox waiting to explode.
Freshly-made smoothies will be provided courtesy of local smoothie experts Love Smoothies, whose concoctions range from the angelically healthy to the devilishly indulgent.
More fresh and healthy products will be available in the form of organic vegetables straight from Algarve Gardens and the health-conscious will also enjoy salads and ‘alternative dishes’ courtesy of Taberna do Rei.
A vast range of snacks and fast foods will be available, from kebabs to the typical Portuguese Pão com Chouriço and Bifana pork sandwiches, hot dogs, and ‘mountain’ sandwiches made from rustic bread and fillings like cheeses and smoked ham that are traditional in the northern Seia region.
But visitors don’t have to eat their food on the run; a variety of sit-down meals can be savoured thanks to participating restaurants offering flavours from around the globe.
The restaurant Little Britain will be providing proper English Breakfasts, Fish & handmade Chips, burgers and sandwiches; A Tasquinha specialises in traditional Portuguese petiscos; Taste of India will be cooking up delicious Indian delicacies, and the intriguingly-named ‘Fungilicious Gourmet Food’ by Mira will also be at the Fair.
For the first time the restaurant Dar Tajine – The Taste of Morocco will be taking part in the event, opening the door to visitors to exciting and authentic Moroccan culinary and ambience, using subtle spices and intriguing flavours that make Moroccan food so unique.
Os Almocreves will be putting on their much-loved grilled meats and soups, while The Best Chocolate Cake cake shop will be bringing its famous treats to round off the meals.
For those with a sweet tooth, more desserts and treats can be found from Tutti Gelato, who will be offering their delicious homemade Italian ice creams, waffles, milkshakes and other cool drinks, or if it’s a warm sweet you want, pay a visit to Crepe Diem for one of their fantastic crêpe creations.
Elsewhere around the grounds children will be delighted by the candy floss and popcorn on offer, while grown-ups can cool themselves off with a refreshing (and very alcoholic) Caipirinha, made just like they do in Brazil.
Also for the grown-ups there is a dedicated wine section, where visitors can learn more about and – most importantly – sample the products from several of the region’s leading producers, who are striving to build up the reputation of Algarve wines.
The International Algarve Fair takes place on 6 and 7 June, from 11am to 7pm at the Fatacil exhibition grounds in Lagoa.
