According to available figures, the economic climate indicator (calculated through surveys of companies from various sectors) remained at 2.1 points in October, for the third consecutive month.
The indicator of economic activity in September remained at 3.1 points for the fifth consecutive month.
Gross Fixed Capital Formation, or investment, slowed in September, continuing the slowdown of the previous three months.
According to INE, in September, from a production perspective, there was a slowdown in the services turnover index and the industrial production index, while the construction production index and the industry turnover index stabilised.
The institute noted that the unemployment rate was 8.5 percent in the third quarter of 2017, 0.3 percentage points lower than the rate recorded in the previous quarter and “significantly lower” than in the same quarter of 2016 (10.5 percent).
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed a year-on-year change of 1.4 percent in October (the same as in September), observing a rate of change of 0.6 percent in the goods component and 2.5 percent in services, which were the same as the figures reported the previous month.
