“Regarding the article published by the BFM Business site – ‘Engie eyes Energias de Portugal’, EDP clarifies to the market that it has not established any contacts or negotiations with the objective of any consolidation transaction,” EDP said in a statement sent to Portugal’s securities markets commission, the CMVM.
French broadcaster BFM Business had cited sources close to Engie as saying that it was interested in acquiring EDP, and that the two companies had been in contact.
EDP shares were at 10.26am on Monday up 3.66% on Friday’s close of the Euronext Lisbon market, at €3.20.
