he Commission was reacting to a report in newspaper Le Monde that the EC had already decided to take action against Portugal for over-shooting the 3-percent budget deficit threshold for 2015 by 1.4 percent.
The French daily added that the EC would use a meeting scheduled for next week to fine Portugal a percentage of its GDP while also freezing the country’s access to EU funds.
