The Municipal Assembly of Faro approved, by a large majority, a proposal from the PAN People, Animals and Nature Party to create a Committee for Environmental Protection and Animal Welfare.

The proposal counted on votes in favour from the PS, PSD, CDU, CDS, Left Block and Land Party Movement (MPT).
The Partido Popular Monárquico (PPM) abstained.

In PAN’s view, this is a “measure that places the municipality on the right track for the civilisational evolution that is intended”.
It said it also affirms Faro as the capital of the Algarve “in the approach to these themes, which are increasingly central and relevant to the society”.
