A 61-year-old man murdered one of his five sons last week, after a succession of arguments, in Ferreiras, Albufeira.
Artur Borrego Teixeira killed his son with a single shot through the heart with a 6.35 calibre pistol, after the two had been engaged in an argument reportedly concerning money. According to Correio da Manha, 28-year-old Luis Teixeira had, prior to the disagreement with his father, been involved in an argument with his partner Rosa Paulo and had "gone outside to calm down as he usually did after arguments", said Paulo. Upon going outside Luis Teixeira crossed with his father and the two engaged in an argument after the father allegedly asked his son for "financial help".
The three lived together in degraded conditions along with Paulo's two daughters from a previous relationship, and according to Paulo, arguments between son and father were frequent and "almost always about money", aggravated by the fact all three adults were unemployed. Artur Teixeira was detained by the Albufeira police (GNR), and awaits trail in custody.
