A very high fire risk is in place for most of the Algarve, with fire departments in Vila do Bispo, Monchique, Portimão, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira and Alcoutim all being placed on high alert.
Similar alerts have also been issued for Beja, Santarém and Castelo Branco.
The advisory has been issued due to the persistent hot weather and steady breeze forecast for today.
