The authorities were alerted to the fire at 10.30pm last night when flames were spotted in the Neoparts warehouse, around 500 metres from Algarve Shopping .
The warehouse contained electrical equipment as well as vehicles and other materials.
Currently the cause of the fire remains unknown and the building remains at risk of collapse.
The operation to control the fire involved 124 personnel and 33 vehicles.

We are staying in a villa nearby. We first saw smoke at around 7pm and the fire brigade arrived soon after. We saw parts of the building collapse including a side wall at which point the fire spread rapidly due to being aired. The night was unusually still with no wind which was unusual. The sky was filled with clouds and plumes of acrid smoke. A helicopter was also deployed to view the extent of fire from the air. There were quite a few explosions from within the building. We also saw the roof collapse.
