Loulé, Tavira, São Brás de Alportel, Alcoutim and Castro Marim, are all on the highest level of readiness due to the likelihood of fires in these areas.

Elsewhere in the Algarve, Silves and Monchique have been placed on the next highest level of alert by the Portuguese Met Office.

The warnings are issued based on prevailing weather conditions such as air temperature, humidity, wind speeds and rainfall the past 24 hours.
