The nationwide operation was staged between 8pm on Saturday and 8am on Sunday.
During that time frame, besides the 48 arrests, GNR also registered 26 road accidents, which caused at least one death and eight serious injuries.
The majority of the arrests were for drink-driving and drug trafficking, and a large quantity of drugs were also seized.
