“It’s refreshing news for Portuguese golf. I played the first GolfSixes in 2017 and it was a fantastic tournament,” Gouveia said, quoted by the European Tour. “I hope this exciting format can inspire a new generation of golfers in Portugal.”

The CEO of the PGA European Tour, Keith Pelley, also shared the satisfaction of the Portuguese golfer.

“I would like to thank the municipality of Cascais […] for their vision of bringing GoldSixes to the Portuguese public and we are confident that we will spend a fantastic weekend in Cascais next June,” Pelley said, adding that the organisation outside the UK “is a truly exciting evolution.”

In this tournament, which gives out one million euros in monetary prizes, 16 pairs per nation will face each other in six-hole matches.

In 2018, the tournament took place in St. Albans, England, and was won by Ireland’s Paul Dunne and Gavin Moynihan.
