Government resumes co-payments on thermal springs treatments

Portugal’s government has signed an agreement with the Portuguese Spas association to resume the state’s co-payment on thermal springs treatments.

The state will fund 35 percent of a set of treatments, with a limit of €95 per user, under a pilot project, which will be assessed in the first quarter of 2020.

The association chairman Victor Leal said during the official signing ceremony in the northern district of Viseu that Portugal is “making history”, and praised the government for not only restoring the state contribution suspended in 2011 but also "evolving towards a totally innovative system".
