Heart attack victims "30 percent more likely to die" in southern Portugal

Newspaper Publico has today reported that heart attack victims are 30 percent more likely to die if they are treated in southern Portugal.

The newspaper claims the risk of dying from a heart attack in public hospitals is much greater in Lisbon, the Alentejo and the Algarve than in northern Portugal.

This, it says, it based on studies involving 38,000 patients.
