The advisory came into force this morning at 5am and will remain in force until 11pm tonight. The alerts cover areas across most of the country, including Lisbon and Madeira.
The Algarve has also been issued with a yellow alert due to waves reaching up to two metres. The alert will remain in place until 10pm tomorrow night.
