Last weekend the Lagoa firefighters rescued a woman who fell from the cliffs while visiting a popular Algarve beauty spot.
The 42-year-old woman had been sightseeing at the Boneca rock formation at Algar Seco on the Carvoeiro cliffs in the municipality when she fell on Sunday afternoon.
She was promptly rescued by firefighters who were alerted by locals via the 112 emergency number.
The Portuguese woman was stabilised at the spot before being taken to Portimão Hospital.
Her injuries are understood to be non-life-threatening.
Meanwhile, a week earlier, on Friday 20 October, the Lagoa Bombeiros were called out once again, to rescue a dog that had also tumbled down the cliffs and become stuck.
The incident happened around lunchtime also near Algar Seco.
“The animal was rather debilitated and was rescued using a stretcher and taken to Lagoa kennel”, the firefighters
said.
