This comes after landowners had been given until this past Thursday to clean their land or face fines ranging from 280 to 120,000 euros.
The deadline has now been extended to the end of May, though officials can still identify landowners who have failed to clear their land, with fines being suspended until June.
Dear Portugal Online,
Reading the news on cleaning up the land in my opion is good as there are to many around this area leaving alot of mess cutting the trees and just leaving them on the ground. This is as bad as leaving the trees if not worse we suffered badly and my brother had his arm badly burned, which was reported to the police,we were right in the middle of the fires around the Pedrogoa Grande area along VILA FACAIA,there were people killed in there cars and even around the land, this we will never forget and we would like to see more land and trees clened up before the hot weather comes this way.Regards Mrs Jefcoate
