Man responsible for acid attack on British holiday sentenced to nine years in jail

The man responsible for carrying out an acid attack on a British holiday rep in Alvor has been sentenced to nine years in jail.

The sentencing took place at a court in Portimão.

The defendant, Edmundo Fonseca, 45, was convicted of attempted murder of 29-year-old Ellie Chessell.

The court considered he was proven to have been the author of the acid attack, planned with the victim's ex-boyfriend, Cláudio Gouveia, who was sentenced to 12 years jail last month.
