Damage covered by insurance following the wildfires that broke out in Monchique last month amounts to over three million euros.
According to Portugal’s Association of Insurers, the number has been rising steadily over the past few weeks, having risen by a million euros since 22 August. The wildfires in the Monchique mountain range broke out on 3 August, lasting a week. The fires injured 41 people and burnt around 28,000 hectares of land.
