The mandatory quarantine regime for a period of 14 days, decreed by the PSD / CDS-PP coalition executive and still in force, started on March 21 at the Praia Dourada hotel, in Porto Santo.

According to data provided to the Lusa agency by the Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection, the Vila Galé hotel, located in the municipality of Santa Cruz, was the one that welcomed the largest number of people, 487, of whom 120 are still in insulation in the unit.

The Quinta do Lorde hotel, in the municipality of Machico, also on the east side, received 260 people between March 22 and April 27, while the Hotel D. Pedro, in Santa Cruz, welcomed 217 people since April 7, from 77 of which are still on site.

The Village Cabo Girão hotel, in Câmara de Lobos, west zone, has received, since April 22, a total of 32 people, 26 of whom are still in isolation.

This unit was requested by the Regional Government following the identification of a chain of transmission of covid-19 in the locality, which also motivated the installation of a sanitary fence between April 19 and May 2.

However, the executive, led by the social democrat Miguel Albuquerque, has already announced that the mandatory quarantine for passengers disembarked in Madeira will be eliminated as of July 1, with the obligation to present or perform a test to the covid- 19 on arrival.

"For the month of July, it is assumed as a necessary condition to enter the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the presentation of a negative PCR test, performed in the last 72 hours, prior to disembarkation, or, alternatively, the performance of a PCR test at arrival, "said Albuquerque, speaking to the Lusa agency.

The cost of the test will be borne by the passenger.
