The inquiry measured the blood pressure of almost 5,000 people and concluded that about 2.4 million Portuguese have hypertension.

May 17 is World Hypertension Day.

The study, apart from measuring blood pressure, also considered medication for hypertension in the two weeks before the interview.

The study showed that in Portugal, more than 70% of people aged over 65 have hypertension, but only 6% of those aged between 25 and 34.
