The CR7 Lisboa, as the new unit in the Baixa, Lisbon’s historic downtown, is called, officially opened on 16 August with 82 guest rooms and a decor relating to the footballer.
It forms part of the Pestana CR7 Lifestyle Hotels chain, whose first unit was inaugurated recently in Funchal, in Ronaldo’s native Madeira.
The partners plan to open another two units next year: in Madrid, where Ronaldo plays for local football club Real, and in New York.
In total, the four hotels are to have some 500 rooms. The projected total investment is €75 million.
José Roquette, the Pestana’s director for business development, told Lusa that the group is looking at “some projects” in other major cities in Europe, but declined to give further details of what he said were “confidential processes”.
The partnership is a 50-50 joint venture, but with the Pestana group overseeing operations.
