In a statement released on Sunday, the Armed Forces General Staff (EMGFA)
added that, for the first time, the mission includes a delegation from Brazil’s army consisting of three military personnel who are to stay in the CAR throughout the first half of the year.
According to EMGFA, Portugal’s contingent is the largest in the EU training mission in the African country, totalling 50 members in a mission that in all comprises 187 military personnel.
Brazil now becomes the 12th country to take part in this EU training mission. The mission has contributed to the reform of the defence sector in the CAR, having already advised and trained more than 3,400 men and women in the country’s armed forces.
