Luigi Agnolin, one of European football’s leading referees in the 1980s, has passed away at the age of 75 after a long illness.

Luigi Agnolin had been President of the Olhanense SAD professional football section for the past five years.
In an illustrious refereeing career, he took charge of the UEFA European Cup Winners’ Cup final between Ajax and Lokomotivo Leipzig in 1987, and the following year, Agnolin officiated at the European Champion Clubs’ Cup final between PSV Eindhoven and Benfica in Stuttgart.
Agnolin officiated at the FIFA World Cup in Mexico where he took charge of the semi-final between West Germany and France. Agnolin was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Italian football in 2012.
Sporting Clube Olhanense, the Board of Directors, technical staff, players and supporters send their heartfelt condolences to his family.
