Regarding medical appointments, in 2016, 8.3 percent of the Portuguese did not go to the doctor for financial reasons, putting Portugal below the European average of 10.5 percent.
Regarding the countries’ overall expenditure on health per capita, Portugal appears as one of the three countries that saw a reduction.
The report also showed that Portugal and Greece have relatively high numbers of doctors per capita compared to other countries in the report.
Portugal may have a high number of doctors per capita, it is discomforting to know that 1 in 10 patients cannot afford to buy prescribed medicine. Is the nation still in a financial crisis?
