One in ten people stop buying prescriptions in 2017 due to cost

One in ten Portuguese people stopped buying medication prescrobed by their doctors last year due to a lack of money, although the figure fell compared to 2016, according to a study due to be presented in Lisbon on Tuesday.

According to a study prepared by the Nova Information Management System (NOVA IMS), which will be presented on Tuesday,10.8% of Portuguese chose not to buy a drug prescribed by a doctor due to the cost. In 2016 this figure reahced 11.8%.

 

According to this study, prepared by NOVA IMS, of Lisbon's Nova University the percentage of patients who have stopped buying medicines because of the price has always declined, from 15.7% in the first year of the study (2014) to 14.2% by 2015.
