Operation Megahertz, as it has been called, was carried out by the PJ's National Anti-Corruption Unit (UNCC), in cooperation with its northern regional directorate, overseen by Lisbon prosecutors. In all some 150 detectives took part in the operation, which included 80 searches of homes and other premises.


According to the PJ, the suspects would ensuring that candidates in written exams were approved, by the use of various technological equipment for taking images and radio communication with the aim of obtaining the correct answers, in exhange for cash payments.


The 14 detainees are to be brought before a judge to determine whether their movements should be limited in any way.
