Portimão council is set to pay €850,000 to recover the management of parking in the city, which is currently licensed to company Empark.

The municipality intends to reduce the amounts charged to motorists and make more places available without payment, according to newspaper Correio da Manhã.

The decision to redeem concessioned parking has already been approved in a council meeting and will be discussed at a municipal assembly on 6 May.

Portimão has 372 parking places in the city centre and riverside area.
