Writing for Business Insider, journalist Harrison Jacobs gave a glowing review of the fast-food outlet, highlighting the architecture and the establishment’s art deco décor.
Located in an emblematic 1930s building that formerly housed the historic Imperial Café, its name taken from the huge regal bronze eagle statue that stands protectively over the door, wings outstretched, the current occupant – McDonald’s – has retained many of the building’s original features, including stained glass windows and crystal chandeliers.
On a mission to find out which of the world’s 36,899 McDonald’s outlets is the most attractive, Harrison Jacobs confirmed the Aliados restaurant, which has long been described as the most beautiful McDonald’s in the world, is indeed deserving of the title.
“I ate at the most beautiful McDonald’s in the world, with crystal chandeliers, stained glass, and a scandalously delicious cake selection,” Business Insider’s Harrison Jacobs said of ‘the world’s most beautiful fast food outlet’.
“Was it worth the visit? Definitely, if you consider the architecture. The food is McDonald’s. If you want to enjoy the venue, do as the Portuguese do and order a coffee and a pastel de nata”, he wrote.
