In response to Lusa, the ministry under Maria do Céu Albuquerque indicated that, according to information from the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary (DGAV), “six national establishments were audited by the Hong Kong authorities in order to be qualified to export”.
At stake are three companies from the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, two from the Alentejo and one from the North region.
This process took place during a mission carried out in Portugal, in October 2019.
In a note published on its website, DGAV welcomed “the recent news that Portugal is authorised to export beef to Hong Kong”, without giving further information.
