Dusan Turcer, a member of the Bela Romão Croquet Country Club at Fuseta, will be travelling to England in late July as the first Portuguese registered croquet player to participate in the World Championships.

The 35 year-old project manager from Luz de Tavira, who has only been playing the sport for fifteen months, has been allocated one of the seventy-four coveted places in the five day event taking place at Godalming, Surrey.

Lita Gale and Sarah Byrne, who established the prestigious Bela Romão club just six years ago, have seen a great upsurge in the sport and many groups from Europe and even further afield are now enjoying the three croquet lawns overlooking the golden beaches of the Algarve. Add to that top quality hospitality and acclaimed menus and it is no wonder that players from far and wide are making a beeline for the Bela Romao Croquet Country Club. www.belaromaocroquet.club
